Data Scientist - Medical Device at SciBase
SciBase is a Swedish MedTech company with roots at the Karolinska Institute. We develop advanced technology based on Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) for use in dermatological diagnostics. Through close collaborations with international partners, including a major industrial partner in the US, we contribute to advancing both scientific research and clinical applications.
Do you want to work in a key role where data analysis, algorithm development, and clinical studies meet?
At SciBase, you will have the opportunity to analyze and develop algorithms based on electrical impedance spectroscopy – a unique technology used in skin diagnostics.
As a Data Scientist within our R&D team, you will play a central role in shaping how we analyze data, develop algorithms, and design future studies. You will work closely with research, product development, and external partners to drive analysis and understanding of clinical data forward. The main focus will be on analyzing clinical and impedance data to extract insights, while also developing and refining algorithms based on your findings.
Your main responsibilities
- Plan and follow up on ongoing studies in collaboration with study sites
- Analyze signal data from electrical impedance spectroscopy and develop, test, and validate algorithms
- Ensure quality and structure in our datasets and contribute to improving data management and analysis processes
- Present results clearly and effectively to internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure that work complies with regulatory requirements for documentation, traceability, and validation
- Provide expertise in statistics, data analysis, and AI/ML in medical applications
- Support the R&D team in related areas when needed – we are a small company where everyone contributes
Your work will directly contribute to the development of diagnostic tools that help physicians and researchers better understand the skin barrier and prevent disease.
Your profile
- At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, algorithm development, or a similar role
- Strong background in statistics and experience working with clinical or medical datasets
- Proficient in Python, R, or other relevant analytical tools
- Experience working in a regulated environment (MedTech, Biotech, or Pharma)
- Ability to work in a structured way with documentation, traceability, and validation
- Experience setting up analysis plans and collaborating with clinical study sites
- Strong communication and analytical skills – able to explain complex relationships clearly
- Flexible, solution-oriented, and hands-on attitude with a collaborative mindset
Meritorious / Nice to have
- Experience working with signal or sensor-based data (e.g. EEG, EMG, or similar)
- Previous work with commercial AI/ML applications in medicine
- Experience in feature engineering and model selection for small to mid-sized datasets
- Experience working with databases
- Knowledge of C# or experience working in a Linux environment
- Background in hardware, electronics, or mechanics
Education
- Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, or another relevant field
